About the episode
In this episode, we welcome our first official family guest to the podcast: Dannielle’s brother, Scott. He joins us to talk about something we don’t often hear discussed alongside menopause conversations, men’s midlife hormone changes and testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
Scott talks about what first led him to look into testosterone replacement therapy after noticing some frustrating changes in focus and energy. That search eventually opened the door to a bigger conversation about men’s hormones, testing, and what midlife health can look like from the male side.
We also get into what TRT actually involves day-to-day, including blood work, monitoring, and figuring out what works for your body. Like most health journeys, Scott’s path included a few surprises.
As we talk through his experience, it becomes clear just how much overlap there is with what many women go through in menopause. Brain fog, joint pain, mood shifts, sleep struggles, and the challenge of finding doctors who really listen all sound pretty familiar.
Scott also shares some of the lifestyle changes he’s made to support his health, including low-carb eating, paying attention to ingredients, and staying consistent with movement and strength.
At the end of the day, this conversation is a good reminder that hormone changes aren’t just a women’s issue. Midlife shifts show up for everyone, and sometimes the most helpful thing is comparing notes and giving each other a little grace while we figure it out.
